Michel was one of the founders of [[FINLEY HOSPITAL (THE)]]. Educated in the public schools of Dubuque, Michel graduated from the School of Pharmacy of the University of Pennsylvania. He returned to Dubuque and worked in the [[RUETE AND MICHEL]] drug company, but later returned to the University of Pennsylvania Medical School from which he graduated in 1889.
