The Dan Rice Circus appeared in Dubuque in July, 1877. At the time the news reported on his erecting a soldiers' memorial for $20,000 and his many appearances on behalf of churches and charities. (2) He returned on August 8, 1877. (3)
 
Scheduled for Dubuque in June, 1936, the Dan Rice Circus featured a 12-year old lion tamer among other performers. (4)

DAN RICE CIRCUS. The circus came to Dubuque in June 1872 with dog acts, "educated" mules, and fancy riding. (1)
