BUENO, Delora. (Dubuque, IA-- ). "Brazilian from Dubuque." Bueno, the featured singer at Washington DC.'s annual Cherry Blossom Festival in April 1951, was also a featured singer at a posh hotel night club in the nation's capital. Bueno's father came to the United States to study agriculture at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. It was there that he met and married Maude Smith. The family moved to Iowa City were he taught Romance languages at the University of Iowa. Bueno taught briefly at the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE before taking his family, including his three-year-old daughter, back to Brazil where his parents had coffee plantations.
