BITTMAN, Charles W. (Rhine Folz, Bavaria, Jan. 8, 1822-- ). Grocer. Bittman came to the United States when 15 years of age and lived in Cincinnati, St. Louis, New Orleans and California. He came to Dubuque in 1854 and established Bittman & Schroeder, dealer in groceries and provisions. He served as vice president of the board of directors of the LINWOOD CEMETERY Association.
