WILLIAM RYAN HOME. William A. RYAN moved to Dubuque during the early 1860s. Approximately ten years after settling in Iowa, he had an ITALIAN VILLA ARCHITECTURE home constructed for his first family. Van Osdel, the designer of the famed Palmer House hotel in Chicago, was the architect.

Ryan later purchased the house next door from John THOMPSON.
