GODSEY, Clifford C. (southeast of Sloan, Iowa, July 20, 1931--Dubuque, IA, Feb. 11, 2011). Godsey was a life-long employee of John Deere. He began with the company in their San Francisco branch and then transferred to the [[JOHN DEERE DUBUQUE WORKS]] in 1964. He worked as a test engineer for three years before moving to Mannheim, Germany with his family as the company's liaison between the Dubuque Works and John Deere Mannheim. He and his family returned to Dubuque in 1969 and he retired in 1985.

In 1969 Godsey joined Metropolitan Lodge 49 of the Masons of Iowa. He served the local group as master, secretary and other offices. He was honored to serve as junior grand steward of the Grand Lodge of Iowa in 1981-1982. He served on the board of custodians of the Work for thirteen years traveling throughout Iowa instructing brother masons.  In 1985 and 1986 he served the Grand Lodge as junior grand warden. In 2002 and 2003, served as grand master of Masons in Iowa. He joined The Order of the Eastern Star where he served as worthy patron four different times with his wife, Bev, as worthy patron of Julien Chapter 125.  He also belonged to the Clinton Scottish Rite, Cedar Valley York Rite, St. Ignatius Conclave Red Cross of Constantine in Ced Rapids, Oxus Grotto-Dubuque, and Iowa Research Lodge.
