CONLIN]] and for a time under Sheriff John Steiner. he became a candidate for City Alderman on the 'Democratic ticket in 1894, and was elected from the Fifth Ward for a term of two years. He served as Chairman of the Committee on Streets. Kaufmann was a member of the Dubuque County Board of Supervisors for sixteen months. He was appointed to the position and took office on August 22, 1912, after Joseph Connolly died. Kaufmann left office on December 31, 1913. He ran for County Auditor in 1912, but was defeated in the primary. | |||
