METZ, John D. (Holland, Mar. 5, 1822-Dubuque, IA, July 2, 1918). Book printer and manufacturer. In 1875 Metz received the American Institute of New York's only award for blank books. The following year at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, he received the grand medal of honor and diploma of highest merit.
