BECKE, Florence. (Dubuque, IA, Nov. 27, 1898--Dubuque, IA, July 2, 1973 ). Becke, a descendant of three people killed when the TOWN CLOCK plunged to the ground on May 25, 1872, won a contest in 1970 to name the new pedestrian way in Dubuque. On May 25, 1872, 12-year old Hannah Street, Mrs. Herman Street Ellwanger and her 8-month-old daughter were killed as they fled the JOHN BELL AND COMPANY dry-goods store.
