ADE, George Henry. (London, England, Feb. 14, 1830-- ). Butcher. Ade grew up and served an apprentice at the butchering business, for which his father paid f70 to learn the trade. He served the Queen's residence, Buckingham Palace, with meat and also served the Duke of Wellington.

Ade emigrated to America in 1854 and came to Dubuque County. After a brief experience in farming for six weeks, he began working at his trade in Dubuque. In 1856 he went into partnership with John Ruegamer. Ruegamer & Ade, butcher and dealers in fresh and salted meats, was located at 1216 Iowa Street.
