WESTEMEIER, Betty. (Dubuque, IA- ). In 1978 Westemeier became Iowa's first woman to lead a barbers' union when she was elected president of Journeyman Barbers Union Local 429 in Dubuque.
Westemeier, one of three women barbers in Dubuque, was employed by Link's Barbershop in Plaza 20. She had belonged to the union for seven years.
