PORT OF DUBUQUE. The site of the ICE HARBOR, major boat-building in Dubuque, and much later the focus of a $188 million renovation project, the Port of Dubuque--its promotion as an entertainment and tourism center and future development--resulted in the formation of America's River Corporation. The not-for-profit organization included as its potential members:

                         The City of Dubuque
                         DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
PLATINUM HOSPITALITY, developer of the GRAND HARBOR RESORT AND WATERPARK
                         DUBUQUE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
                         DUBUQUE RACING ASSOCIATION
                         DIAMOND JO CASINO
                         DUBUQUE MAIN STREET, LTD.

The corporation would coordinate special events and promotions to attract visitors and would control the America's River logo which would be licensed in many categories based on the members' interest in the sale of products. The Chamber guided the logo through the trademarking process and intended to transfer ownership of the logo to the corporation.
