The 1868-69 '''Dubuque City Directory''' listed the north side of Southern Avenue west of Locust. The brewery was destroyed by fire on September 14, 1872. It was insured by the Brewers' Protection Insurance Company of Milwaukee and rebuilt. (1)
 
In 1878 A. Wender sold his store and bar located in the brewery to Huss & Ewen who were to continued the business. (2)

KEMPF'S BREWERY. The 1868 Guide, Gazetteer and Directory of the Dubuque & Soux (sic) City Railroad stated that this business was located along Southern Avenue.

The 1868-69 Dubuque City Directory listed the north side of Southern Avenue west of Locust. The brewery was destroyed by fire on September 14, 1872. It was insured by the Brewers' Protection Insurance Company of Milwaukee and rebuilt. (1)

In 1878 A. Wender sold his store and bar located in the brewery to Huss & Ewen who were to continued the business. (2)
