In 1893 Barmeier moved to Dubuque from Indianapolis and was soon appointed chief deputy Fish and Game Warden. He wrote the hunters' license law and was an organizer and first vice-president of the Iowa Fish and Game Protective Association. Barmeier was also known locally for his participation in several local orchestras and military bands and as a director of the Wild Life League. | ||
