ELLIS APPLIANCE AND SERVICE COMPANY. In 1960 Merwyn R. ELLIS founded Ellis House Service which specialized in appliance repair and parts for major appliances. Merwyn and his sons Bob and Bill opened Appliances Unlimited in 1972.
In November 1979 both businesses were combined under the name of Ellis Appliance & Service Company, Inc. The 1980 through 2013 Dubuque City Directory listed the address as 3370 Central.
In 2010 the store located at 3370 Central was owned and operated by Bill Ellis and his wife, Mary. The company employed eight people.
