ZAK, Margaret Sieppel. (Dubuque, IA, 1912--Dubuque, IA, Apr. 5, 1980). Before coming to Dubuque, Zak was a playwright and lyricist for a church organization in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and La Grange, Illinois. Zak was the co-owner and co-operator of the KERRY COTTAGE (THE) in Dubuque.
As the first president of the BARN COMMUNITY THEATER. Zak saw the organization grow to provide entertainment for six hundred season ticket holders. She instituted an annual awards dinner for recognizing the best performances, many volunteers, and advertisers.
