HARRIS, Ray R. (Unknown-Dubuque, IA, Aug. 24, 1970). Physician and surgeon. Harris, the first Iowa member of the American College of Surgeons, opened his practice in 1908. He served as the local surgeon for the Chicago-Burlington-Quincy Railroad (1909-1960), local surgeon for the Chicago Great Western (1914-1933), and district surgeon of the Illinois Central Railroad (1914-1960). Harris also served as physician for [[INTERSTATE POWER COMPANY]] from 1914 to 1950 and for the United States Employees Commission from 1915 to 1960. He was president of the Iowa Clinical Surgeons Society and the Dubuque Medical Association.
