RATCLIFFE, E. (England, Nov. 12, 1828-- ). Ratcliffe and his parents came to Canada in 1836 and afterward came to New York State. He moved west to Chicago in 1840 and was employed by the stage line of Frink & Walker for five years. He later operated a hotel at Twelve Mile Grove and also at Rockford.
Ratcliffe settled in Dubuque in 1855 and entered the omnibus business, transferring passengers and baggage between here and Dunleith. He was later involved in the livery business.
