KOCH, John Adam. (St. Louis, MO, Jan. 8, 1830-- ). Koch came to Dubuque around 1845 and worked for Hammond & Markle who sent him two two associates and a team and wagon to California in 1849. Koch returned to Dubuque and took the position of bookkeeper in [[WESTPHAL & HINDS]]. He worked there eighteen years and was able to join the firm as a partner. He left after twenty-four years with the company to work for [[COOPER, Augustine A.|Augustine A. COOPER]] for two and one-half years before retiring. He moved to Guttenberg in 1890.
