He worked for his parents at the ''Platteville Journal'', and in 1971 purchased the newspaper from his parents. He operated the "Journal" until 2003 when he sold it to Morris Newspapers. Of all the writing he did, he most enjoyed his weekly column “The Gospel According to Eddie Tor”. A year after selling the paper, Brockman purchased the ''Linn Newsletter'' in Central City, Iowa. He also owned and operated Mastercraft Press, Platteville, for many years. | ||

BROCKMAN, Richard J. (Dubuque, IA, May 25, 1947--Platteville, WI, Apr. 22, 2013. The son of Harold and Leone (VonOehsen) Brockman, Richard graduated from Platteville High School and the University of Wisconsin, Platteville. He worked for his parents at the Platteville Journal, and in 1971 purchased the newspaper from his parents. He operated the "Journal" until 2003 when he sold it to Morris Newspapers.
