PERYON, Robert E. (Dubuque, IA, Dec. 4, 1931--Cascade, IA, Sept. 6, 1997). Peryon was a professor of history and secondary education at the University of Guam. He was also a director of public utilities in Guam, Guam Game commissioner, and a consultant to the island nations of Chuuk, the Marshall islands, Saipan, and Yap. In 1978 he was appointed to the Selective Services Administration in Washington D.C.
Among many awards for his work in education, Peryon received the Outstanding Teacher's Award. He was also the recipient of the State of Iowa Volunteerism Award. In recent years, Peryon was a business delegate for the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE and a released time religion teacher for students at the Aquin School System in Cascade.
