STEINER, J. F. (Switzerland, Feb. 18, 1842--Sept. 5, 1893). Steiner's parents came to Dubuque when he was only six years old. He attended school here and entered the mercantile business. The firm of Steiner & Parker, "dealers in fancy goods and notions and ladies' and gents' furnishing goods" was established in 1878 at 730 Main Street.
