Dennis returned to Dubuque in 1891 and entered the wholesale flour business in the firm of [[WATTERS & DENNIS]]. In 1916 he became a partner in the [[DENNIS BROS. COMPANY]]. Following the incorporation of the company, he served as the secretary-treasurer. Albert Dennis became the president of the company in 1925.
