Dennis returned to Dubuque in 1891 and entered the wholesale flour business in the firm of WATTERS & DENNIS. In 1916 he became a partner in the DENNIS BROS. COMPANY. Following the incorporation of the company, he served as the secretary-treasurer and became the company president in 1925.
