LUTHER'S EUROPEAN HOTEL. The renovation of the Law block in 1874 led to the creation of Luther's European Hotel, named for the caterer who operated it. Rooms could be rented from 75 cents to $3.00. Meals were "procurable at all hours" and board was by the day or week.
In 1885 the former SIEVER'S EUROPEAN HOTEL at 229-243 7th Street was called Luther's European Hotel.
