ROBINSON, Frank M. (South Reading, Windsor County, VT-- ). Robinson completed his education at Dartmouth College and then began the study of law. He arrived in Dubuque on February 16, 1856, completed his studies, and was admitted to the bar in 1857. (1)
ROBINSON, Frank M. (South Reading, Windsor County, VT, 1828--Dubuque, IA, Mar. 25, 1885). Robinson began his education in the academy at West Randolph, Vermont under the principalship of [[ADAMS, Austin|Austin ADAMS]], the man he would later join in the practice of law in Dubuque. He entered Dartmouth College in 1851 and graduated in 1855. He began the study of law in the office of Tracy, Converse & Barrett in Woodstock. Tracy at the time was a member of Congress. Converse became the governor of the state ad Barrett was later one of the state's justices on the supreme court. He arrived in Dubuque on February 16, 1856, completed his studies, and was admitted to the bar in 1857. (1)


In January 1862, Robinson formed a legal partnership with [[ADAMS, Austin|Austin ADAMS]] that lasted fourteen years. He was also associated with [[LACY, Benjamin William|Benjamin William LACY]]. Lacy also married Robinson's daughter. (2)

Robinson was a member for one or two terms on the Dubuque city council. He was active in securing the right-of-way for the widening of Grandview Avenue, for the improvement of [[WASHINGTON PARK]] and [[JACKSON PARK]], and for the erection of the [[TOWN CLOCK]]. Robinson was also a stockholder and director of the [[CHAMBERLAIN PLOW COMPANY]], [[FIRST NATIONAL BANK]], and the [[DUBUQUE COUNTY BANK]]. (3)
