UNMEASURED FLOW REDUCER. Manufactured by A.Y.MCDONALD MANUFACTURING COMPANY, the UFR allowed measurement of water flows in residences below 1/4 gallon per minutes--such as leaks and drips--that have previously been unmeasurable.
In 2010 Dubuque became the first city in Iowa to install UFRs. Pilot studies of the device showed an average increase of five to ten percent of measured water for each UFR installed.
