Herrmann donated his interest in the museum assembled by his father, Richard HERRMANN, to the DUBUQUE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY. Proceeds of Land of Promise and Fulfillment, a book of city memories and family biography written by Herrmann in 1972, were donated to the Masonic Temple and the Historical Society.
Herrmann was a lifetime member of the advisory board of the Salvation Army. He held memberships in the Audubon Society and Bird Club and the board of ST. LUKE'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.
