LAFLIN, SMITH AND COMPANY. Laflin, Smith and Company which became LAFLIN AND RAND POWDER COMPANY became a local agent of Chadbourne and Foster, the chief competitor of Dubuque's SHOT TOWER, as early as September 1861.

The 1858-1859 and 1859-1860 Dubuque City Directory listed 5th between Main and Iowa.

The 1861 through 1867 Dubuque City Directory gave the address for this business as 56 Main.
