Gindorff, Nicholas C. (Luxembourg--Dubuque, IA, Dec. 13, 1942). Humanitarian. Gindorff, one of the midwestern leaders of the Luxembourg Americans, was knighted by King Albert of Belgium following World War I for his services to the Belgian people. With the outbreak of World War II, Gindorff worked to rally Americans of Luxembourg birth or descent in support of the war effort.
