One of the founders of the Dubuque Bowling Association, he served as the organization’s first secretary-treasurer and held the position for twelve years.  Selected to serve on the executive board of the American Bowling Association in 1931, he became vice-president in 1936 and president in 1942.

UNMACHT, Martin. (Dubuque, IA, Oct. 4, 1895—Dubuque, IA, Mar. 12, 1953). Dubuque’s “Mr. Bowling.” At the time of his death, Unmacht was the only person in the history of the American Bowling Congress to have served twice as the president of the organization.

One of the founders of the Dubuque Bowling Association, he served as the organization’s first secretary-treasurer and held the position for twelve years. Selected to serve on the executive board of the American Bowling Association in 1931, he became vice-president in 1936 and president in 1942.
