ZAK, Margaret Sieppel. (Dubuque, IA,1912-1980). First president of the BARN COMMUNITY THEATER. Under Zak's leadership, the Barn Community Theater grew to provide entertainment for six hundred season ticket holders. As president, she instituted an annual awards dinner for recognizing the best performances and the many volunteers. Advertisers were also thanked at an annual party.
Zak held memberships in the DUBUQUE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY and the board of the VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION. Her activity in the Friends of Aquinas organization led to performances from the Tyrone Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis being held in Dubuque.
