	The store was totally destroyed by fire on May 27, 1895. Started, it was thought by a locomotive spark, the roof on the building used to store about 100 tons of hay ~~for~~ burning by the time the fire department arrived. Spreading quickly, the fire ~~had~~ reached the entire structure by the time a fire hose had been unrolled. Quick action on the part of the firemen saved the rest of the block of buildings.
