Educated at the University of Iowa and Boston University School of Theology, Turner was endorsed as a chaplain in a general hospital setting by the Division of Chaplains, Board of Education of the United Methodist Church in 1986.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Following further certification, Turner served as the Chaplain Supervisor from 1991 to 1993 and then became the Director at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center.  In 1993, Turner was a member of the Health and Welfare Committee, Board of Global Ministries, Iowa Annual Conference. In 1994, he was a resource person for &amp;quot;Education on Power and Sexual Abuse.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;
