	STEFFEN, Leo A. (Dubuque, IA, Feb. 1, 1905--Boynton Beach, FL, May 1, 1987). Steffen attended grade and high schools in Dubuque and was a student at [[COLUMBIA COLLEGE]], [[BAYLESS BUSINESS COLLEGE]], and for three years attended night sessions of the Midwestern School of Commerce (later Loyola University) in Chicago. 	Steffen was employed by Price, Waterhouse and Company and then Raymond O. Duggan and Company, certified public accountants. He entered the life insurance business in 1930 as a salesman for the Home Life Insurance Company of New York, for one year, and then The Travelers Insurance Company in Chicago. ~~Steffen~~ returned to Dubuque in 1932 and worked with the Central Life Assurance Society of Des Moines until 1935. He then became the district manager for the Aetna Life Insurance Company.		Steffen was employed by Price, Waterhouse and Company and then Raymond O. Duggan and Company, certified public accountants. He entered the life insurance business in 1930 as a salesman for the Home Life Insurance Company of New York, for one year, and then The Travelers Insurance Company in Chicago. He returned to Dubuque in 1932 and worked with the Central Life Assurance Society of Des Moines until 1935. He then became the district manager for the Aetna Life Insurance Company.

	Steffen organized the Greater Dubuque Association and over several years held the offices of president, vice-president, and secretary. He also established the Dubuque Association of Life Underwriters of which he served as secretary and director.
