	SHERIDAN, Frank J. (Ireland--Unknown) Frank Sheridan became a naturalized citizen in 1876 while living in Dubuque. (1) He turned down an opportunity to run for political office on the Knights of Labor ticket in 1887. (2) He worked in Dubuque as the manager of the ediorial department of the Industrial Leader and held an equivalent position with the Dubuque Times. (3) Around 1894, Sheridan, a statistician, moved to Washington, D. C. to work for the Department of Labor. His son, John, an alumnus of [[ST. The money, presented by Sheridan and Congressman Frank Wade of the Second Iowa District, was to fund a chair in the new department of Secular History.
