Schwind, the son of [[SCHWIND, Jacob\|Jacob SCHWIND]] was educated in the local ward and high school until the age of sixteen. 	Schwind returned to Dubuque and became a bookkeeper in the [[TSCHIRGI AND SCHWIND]] brewery, remaining there until he and his brother purchased the business which they reorganized as the [[WESTERN BREWERY]]. They managed that business until 1892 with the formation of the [[DUBUQUE BREWING AND MALTING COMPANY]]. Schwind was cashier and had charge of the shipping department of the new organization. In 1906 he became a director and was elected assistant secretary and treasurer.
