He joined [[CRESCENT ELECTRIC SUPPLY COMPANY]] on July 1, 1944. His father [[SCHMID, Titus B.\|Titus B. SCHMID]] had founded the company in 1916. Working with his brothers in the business, James became the company president in August, 1974 and in November 1992 rose to chairman and chief executive officer.		SCHMID, James A.
