(Dubuque, IA, Aug. 23, 1937--Dubuque, IA, Dec. 14, 2013) The son of Joseph and Theresa (Reuter) Schiesl, John graduated from [[LORAS ACADEMY]] in 1955. John married Mary Ann Olinger on November 21, 1959, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.		[[File:schiesl.jpg\|200px\|thumb\|left\|]]SCHIESL, John R. John married Mary Ann Olinger on November 21, 1959, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

	While a student, Schiesl was a pitcher for Loras and pitched a 4 hitter game to capture the District Crown and ~~finished~~ in 2nd place at state. He played Holy Name Baseball and pitched a no hitter in the All Star game in 1955. He went on to coach and was the secretary/treasurer for the Holy Name Baseball League from St. Patrick's for a number of years.		While a student, Schiesl was a pitcher for Loras and pitched a 4 hitter game to capture the District Crown and finish in 2nd place at state. He played Holy Name Baseball and pitched a no hitter in the All Star game in 1955. He went on to coach and was the secretary/treasurer for the Holy Name Baseball League from St. Patrick's for a number of years.

	In 1960 Schiesl was signed to play professional baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals before he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He loved the game and played from 1955 until 1973. He was employed as a surveyor for Bartels and McMahan for thirteen years. John went on to become a draftsman at [[INTERSTATE POWER COMPANY]]~~, retiring~~ from [[ALLIANT ENERGY CORPORATION]] after thirty years.		In 1960 Schiesl was signed to play professional baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals before he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He loved the game and played from 1955 until 1973.
