(1) ~~What began as "an excuse"~~ to ~~get some~~ old ~~bands together~~ to ~~jam grew into~~ a ~~major annual musical event and an important fundraiser for the non-profit Camp Albrecht Acres~~. ~~(2)~~		The late Greg Pekas and [[MOSCOSO, Luis Saúl\|Luis Saúl MOSCOSO]] organized Dubuque Rock Veterans (DRV). They set up a Facebook page in 2003 (3) that captured the imagination of former musicians and fans. Soon old band photos, posters, and other memorabilia were posted to the page’s photo albums. Discussion forums sprang up, giving DRV members a place to share stories. Before long, the Dubuque Rock Veterans Facebook became a virtual museum of Dubuque rock history. (4) Since 2003 the two men had also tried to organize a reunion of the old 1960s band, the Dutch Uncle (2021 Inductees to the IRRMA Hall of Fame). When that seemed impossible, they changed their strategy to have a 1960s music reunion.

Musician friends showed up to see what happened and the idea of Rock 'n' Roll Rewind took off. DVR had proven to their old band mates that an annual DRV bands reunion was possible.
