	RATTLESNAKES. The writers of the Daily Herald reported in August, 1879 that rattlesnakes were more numerous than they had been for many previous seasons. A farmer named Benjamin Thiesen had recently killed five in one day. A Mrs. Leffelholz of East Dubuque had been bitten while picking berries. 	On May 19, 2004 students at [[STEPHEN HEMPSTEAD HIGH SCHOOL]] witnessed Dan Roth of Galena, Illinois bitten by a rattlesnake during his "Snakes Alive" presentation. The snake's fangs went through a balloon he was holding ad hit his hand. Roth was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa, City.
