	RANDALL, Job Sherman.(Washington Co., NY, 1816--Dubuque, IA, Aug. 14, 1891). Randall moved to Chicago in 1836 and to Dubuque in 1860. In association with [[PELAN, Christopher\|Christopher PELAN]], Randall bought Dubuque's first ~~sawmill~~ which had been constructed in 1847 by the Gibbs Brothers. The mill had an annual capacity of three million feet of lumber. (1)		RANDALL, Job Sherman.(Washington Co., NY, 1816--Dubuque, IA, Aug. 14, 1891). Randall moved to Chicago in 1836 and to Dubuque in 1860. In association with [[PELAN, Christopher\|Christopher PELAN]], Randall in 1861 bought Dubuque's first sash mill and lumberyard which had been constructed in 1847 by the Gibbs Brothers. (1) The mill had an annual capacity of three million feet of lumber. (2)

	The [[PELAN & RANDALL]] company remained in operation until February 14, 1877, when Randall bought Pelan's share from his estate. (2) One of the many hazards of the business was low water. In October, 1879 the river level was so low that logs could not be floated up the slough to the mill. With their supply of logs exhausted, the company closed down temporarily putting an estimated twenty-five employees out of work. (3)		The [[PELAN & RANDALL]] company remained in operation until February 14, 1877, when Randall bought Pelan's share from his estate. (3) One of the many hazards of the business was low water.
