He was appointed Judge of Circuit Court to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Judge [[WILSON, David S.\|David S. WILSON]] in February 1869. He was later appointed Register in Bankruptcy and was commissioner of the United States Circuit Court in 1880.		For six years his was one of the well-known law firms, Smith, McKindley & Poor. He was appointed Judge of Circuit Court to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Judge [[WILSON, David S.\|David S. WILSON]] in February 1869. He was later appointed Register in Bankruptcy and was commissioner of the United States Circuit Court in 1880.
