The winner of the Manchester Poetry Prize, the United Kingdom&amp;#039;s biggest award for unpublished literary work, Pollock used five, eight-line poems about a lighter, scale, screw, sewing needle and a microphone as subjects as his submission. They were part of a larger collection of &amp;quot;thing poems&amp;quot; he has written about everyday objects with plans of including them in a book. (3)&lt;br /&gt;

In addition to his international readership, Pollock has been Finalist for the Griffin Poetry Prize, Finalist for the Governor General&amp;#039;s Literary Award in Poetry, Runner-Up for the Posner Poetry Book Award, Winner of an Outstanding Achievement Award in Poetry from the Wisconsin Library Association, Winner of the Editors&amp;#039; Prize in the Magma Poetry Competition, Finalist for the ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year Award, Work-Study Scholarship in poetry at the Bread Loaf Writers&amp;#039; Conference, John Woods Scholarship in poetry at the Prague Summer Program at Charles University, Inprint Dissertation Fellowship, Stella Ehrhart Memorial Fellowship, C.
