They then moved to Rhode Island, where Bob was stationed at Quonset Point Naval Base as an anti-submarine pilot on the carrier USS Wasp. He was honorably discharged as a lieutenant. Bob and Alana were avid ballroom dancers. They taught ballroom dance throughout the tri-state area, as well as on cruise ships traveling as far away as Australia, South America, and the Caribbean. Through dance, they met many, many people, and developed long-lasting, wonderful friendships with so many of them.

Bob was a much-loved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He was kind, hardworking, and always willing to help a friend.
