	Paul taught science at Mt. Olive, Illinois High School for five years. He then moved to Rockford, Illinois where his career included various teaching, supervisory and administrative duties in Rockford High Schools and the Regional Office of Education. For six years, he was co-director of a Federal Government Energy Project which involved teaching science and social studies teachers throughout the U.S. about energy choices in the future and co-authored a book on America’s possible energy choices. He had the privilege of going on the First Honor Flight from Dubuque to see the War Memorial in Washington, DC.		Paul was honored with two recognitions. He was added to the Fresno State Education Honor Wall as “Cool Science Teacher” and Paul and his lifelong friend Ed Heiberger were both awarded Quilts of Honor for their military service. He had the privilege of going on the First Honor Flight from Dubuque to see the War Memorial in Washington, DC.

The son of Paul J. and Viola (Olinger) Meyers, Paul married Harriet Danner on August 9, 1952, at [[ST. ANTHONY'S CHURCH]] in Dubuque. She died on July 20, 1986. He married Ruth (Eckstein) Kane on July 8, 1989, at [[ST. COLUMBKILLE CATHOLIC CHURCH]]. She died on June 21, 2003.

Paul graduated from [[DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL]] in June 1943. He served in the Navy during [[WORLD WAR II]] in the South Pacific aboard the battleship USS Washington from November 1943 until his discharge December 11, 1945.

He attended [[LORAS COLLEGE]] and graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in 1950 and MA in School Administration in 1953. He did further graduate work in science and education.
