	She was a resident of Dubuque and a member of the [[CHURCH OF THE NATIVITY]] and parish Rosary Society for nearly 70 years. Her formal education ended with 8th grade, but she took up her studies again in mid-life and graduated from [[DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL]] GED Program at age 50 in 1971.		She was a resident of Dubuque and a member of the [[CHURCH OF THE NATIVITY]] and parish Rosary Society for nearly 70 years. Her formal education ended with 8th grade, but she took up her studies again in mid-life and graduated from [[DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL]] GED Program at age 50 in 1971.

Committed to community service, Jean was a Girl Scout troop leader, served on the Dubuque County Democratic Party Central Committee for many years, volunteered with the Phone-a-Friend Crisis Line, and volunteered at [[MERCY MEDICAL CENTER]] for more than 20 years until she was 89 years old. Following her first career as wife, mother and homemaker, she was employed as a housemother in the dormitory at Finley Hospital School of Nursing from 1978 until the school closed.
