	MARSH, J. M. (Seneca Co., NT--Dubuque, IA, Jan. 16, 1858)~~. Surveyor~~. Marsh surveyed a large ~~portion~~ of Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa ~~and~~ settled in Dubuque in 1840~~. He was a~~ U.S. Deputy Surveyor ~~and established~~ the state line between Iowa and Minnesota.		MARSH, J. M. (Seneca Co., NT--Dubuque, IA, Jan. 16, 1858). Marsh came West and worked as a surveyor; he surveyed a large part of the states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa. He settled in Dubuque in 1840 as the U.S. Deputy Surveyor. He surveyed the state line between Iowa and Minnesota under the authority of the Government.

			In 1845, he married Miss Harriet L. Langworthy, a sister of the Langworthy brothers; she died in 1854, leaving one son-Frank M., a civil engineer and roadmaster on the [[DUBUQUE AND SIOUX CITY RAILROAD]]. In January, 1856, Mr. Marsh married to Ann J. Stevens, from Seneca Co., N.Y. Mr. Marsh died Jan. 16, 1858, leaving one son-James E., in the employ of the Dubuque & Sioux City Railroad.
