His scouting memorabilia collection supplements his interest in scouting history.

Outside of his involvement with Scouting, Lewis has served as president of the Dubuque Table Tennis Club for more than 30 years. Lewis was the Iowa Games table tennis commissioner when the sport was introduced by the Iowa Sports Foundation in 1996. He teamed with Dhiren Narotam to win the Championship Doubles event in the first year of the table tennis event. He has served as commissioner of the sport for both the Winter Games and the Summer Games through 2017. Lewis served as an umpire and official for the table tennis event at the 1991 International Special Olympics.
