The son of Carl C. and Estelle Mae (Kuntz) Launspach, Dale was the men&amp;#039;s tennis doubles state runner-up two years in a row while at [[DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL]]. He was the first recipient of a tennis scholarship from the University of Dubuque and played on their tennis team for two years. A dedicated distance runner, he once completing the Chicago marathon. Dale served in the United States Army in Korea from 1953 to 1955. (1)&lt;br /&gt;

With his life-long business partner and brother-in-law, Dick Ludwig, Dale owned and operated [[ALADDIN DRY CLEANERS]] for forty-seven years. The company grew from thirty employees to one with 340 people across Iowa Until 1960, the company had been called [[DUBUQUE LAUNDRY &amp;amp; DRY CLEANERS]]. The partners retired in 1999 when most of the operations in Iowa were sold. The Dubuque operation was renamed Premier Linen &amp;amp; Dry Cleaning Services. (2)&lt;br /&gt;
