&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;New page&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;LABOR DAY.  Labor Day was established in Iowa at a meeting of the Iowa State Federation of Labor in the following resolution:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
               Be it resolved by the tenth annual convention of the&lt;br /&gt;
               Iowa State Federation of Labor, That we observe the&lt;br /&gt;
               first Sunday of June as memorial day for the purpose&lt;br /&gt;
               of gathering together all our members in their res-&lt;br /&gt;
               pective localities and decorating the graves of our&lt;br /&gt;
               deceased brothers a sisters as a tribute to their&lt;br /&gt;
               memory; be it further &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
               Resolved, That our secretary is instructed to notify&lt;br /&gt;
               all local unions affiliated of the observance of this&lt;br /&gt;
               day in due time hereafter.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The first Labor Day in Dubuque was therefore held on the first Sunday of June, 1903. &lt;br /&gt;
